Proposals and Applications
The Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute (LMSI) invites proposals for programmes and scientific activities, alongside applications for research visits as a Visiting Fellow. Details on submission processes and application guidelines are provided below.
In proposing an activity, applicants are requested to consider the mandate of the Institute to broaden and enlarge the mathematical sciences community. Crucially, proposals must demonstrate a clear and tangible impact on the advancement of mathematics in India.
Applicants should address the representation of women and members of minorities in the proposed activity and should ensure that participants include scientists representing a range of career levels, types of institutions, and geographical locations.
Thematic Programme Proposals
LMSI solicits proposals for a variety of programs in areas of current research interest in the mathematical sciences. We currently host thematic programmmes which are four or six months in length.
Review Process: Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Submissions are compiled and rigorously evaluated by the Institute's Scientific Advisory Panel.
Lead Time: Because of the scale of these programs, organizers are advised that a lead time of at least eighteen (18) months prior to the proposed start term is highly recommended.

General Scientific Activity Proposals
LMSI supports General Scientific Activities (GSA) in the mathematical sciences such as workshops, conferences, seminars, and summer schools.
Deadlines and Review Process: Proposals for GSAs are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. Decisions are typically announced within six weeks of the submission after a comprehensive review by the Institute’s Scientific Advisory Panel.
Lead Time: A lead time of at least nine (9) months is recommended between the time of submission and the anticipated date of the event.

Visiting Fellows
The Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute (LMSI) invites post-Ph.D. mathematicians to apply for our 2026 Research Visits Program, offering a world-class environment for focused research. In proposing a visit, applicants should consider LMSI’s mandate to broaden the mathematical sciences community.
Programme Formats: We welcome applications for both Individual Visiting Researchers seeking dedicated focus time to advance their independent work, and Research Small Groups (2-4 mathematicians) looking to work intensively on collaborative problems
LMSI provides visiting scholars with private office space, accommodation in Mumbai, a daily per diem, a local transportation allowance, and round-trip economy airfare, though visitors are encouraged to secure external funding for international travel where possible.
